Little Talbot Island – Nov 2015

Ixnay Hunting Island – on to Little Talbot Island SP near Fernandino Beach, FL. Five days previously the Little Talbot area had received 9 inches of rain in a 24-hour period. If you look at the picture of the dock in one of the pictures, we were told that as a result of the rain, a northeast wind, and high tidal surge the water was up to the top of the railing on the dock, and flooded parts of the campground.

Located just north of the Mayport Naval Station on the Atlantic coast, we had a great time on hikes, exploring the area and getting together with dear friends and A&M rap recording artists Queen Jo Seepha and J Toad. Sadly their agent would not permit pictures; makes sense, though, as we had a hard enough time dodging the paparazzi.

The campground is situated between ocean and salt marsh. Hiking trails were a bit flooded due to the previous rainfall but with a little persistence and wet shoes were beautiful, situated beneath the canopy of Live Oaks, Cedars and ferns.

The ocean, as always, is a special place that I could stare at for hours. The sounds, the water, and the fabric of colors, textures and wildlife make the ocean and beach endlessly interesting, almost therapeutic and clearly magical.

  1. Great pictures. Sorry Hunting Island didn’t work out. Join us at Huntington Beach Dec 1st or ocean Lakes Dec. 4.

    1. Kathy, thanks! I think we were close to Ocean Lakes as we departed Talbot. We will be at FDR SP those dates, but will catch you down the road – hopefully Canopener!
