Organ Pipe – Feb 2020

This will be a short post, but it has been confirmed (photos don’t lie) – the pot of gold is located in the campground dump station!  You can all breathe a sigh of relief.  Or perhaps that’s not the best analogy.

We camped again at Organ Pipe National Monument in southwest Arizona, literally on the Mexican border.  This is not our first stay, and you can read a more comprehensive report from our visit in 2017, which if I may say is pretty good.

The drive in is every bit as good as the stay.  The scenery in the desert, if you have not been, is extraordinary.

Ours was a brief stay, but we wanted to introduce this national treasure to friends of ours who had not been previously.  This is the northern most place in the Sonoran Desert that you will find Organ Pipe cactus, and I believe the only place in the US.  They are distinctive in appearance as they look like, gosh, an organ pipe.

Here are some photos from Organ Pipe National Monument on this trip – fabulous place.

    1. Yes, Twin Peaks! Awesome campground, but no facilities if I remember correctly. Highly recommend. Bring everything you need with you – pretty remote, literally right on the border.
