I don’t really do campground reviews, and this is not a campground review. BUT, the Cherry Creek State Park is a most excellent urban oasis near Denver, CO. We were here to act as sherpas evaluating apartments for our son – a freaking abysmal experience I might add; it has been a while since the last time either one of us was looking for apartments. Some things don’t get better with age.

Anyway, my bride found this state park located technically in Aurora but really at the junction of I-25 and 225, abutting the Denver Technology Center, just south and a bit east of Denver city proper.
All these pictures are either from our campsite or from within the park itself.
And, as is not untypical, we got together with one of our Airstream friends Tom, who lives in Denver and we had a MOST enjoyable evening! Airstreamers have the best community.
Don’t tell anyone; this is a GREAT place to stay! We had full hookup (water, electric, sewer) but there are also sites with no services as well. I imagine this place is slammed in the spring, summer and fall because it is that big, that convenient and that nice. But for us in March, it was (after the weekend) fairly quiet.

I love your blog! Thanks for all the great information and gorgeous photos.
Thank you!
