I really deliberated whether to post on this visit to Lost Dutchman State Park, in Apache Junction, AZ (20 miles east of Phoenix). I have posted previously about this place and in spite of what you might think I try to keep the blog current but also interesting, and with new places.  But Lost Dutchman is a great campground.

I’ll keep this short, and you can also go to my posts from 2015 and 2016 if you want more info on this place.

Suffice it to say that if this wasn’t a cool place then we would not have returned, so I guess that is part of the answer; we do try to avoid being creatures of habit, but we may have failed here. 

Old friends, new friends, old places to eat, new places to eat… what’s not to love.

We met up with friends and dined at Pizzeria Bianco near the University of Arizona campus. To give you an idea, we had a 1- ½ hour wait, and were delighted to have waited. At a pizza place!! I know, we don’t get out much! This place is awesome. We had been here previously, and while I am not a big fan of pizzas, this might be one of my favorite restaurants.

Earlier tonight we met up with friends at our campsite at Lost Dutchman and then proceeded to go to the Handlebar Pub and Grill in Apache Junction. I did not take pictures before entering, but I will admit I would never have gone there if it did not get good reviews. What a dump – and it was GREAT! Gotta tell you, this is basically a burger/pub joint, BUT the burgers are great, and there is a lot going on with the menu that makes this place a destination.
