Having never been to Heavenly Mountain previously, and having now skied there, I can report back that Heavenly is heavenly. While the snow has been light so far this season, the conditions were fabulous, and can I just say that peering out over Lake Tahoe on a bluebird day is not awful.

To back up, Karen and I were camped in Tucson. As the devoted husband that I am, I honored Karen by giving her some “me” time. In other words, I left her alone and flew to Reno to go skiing with friends (and some family) at Heavenly on the California/Nevada border. I am a giver.

What an unbelievably fun few days! Most everyone flew into Reno where we would meet up and drive to the South Tahoe (Stateline, NV) area where we would stay at a friend’s townhouse for our trip. It pays to have nice friends.

I won’t bore you with our details but suffice it to say our trip was consumed with skiing, fun, laughter, and food. Upon arrival and after a short tour around town by our host, we had dinner at the Lucky Beaver. Obviously on the Nevada side, this place is open 24/7 and offers food, beverage, and gambling. I believe alcohol pairs nicely with gambling.

The skiing was phenomenal. Even with the low amount of natural snow, the slopes were in primo condition – well groomed with blue skies and light puffy snow.

Amongst our activities, we visited Edgewood, which is an incredibly beautiful resort – hotel, golf course and restaurants. Amazing. We didn’t stay in the hotel, but we did have a dinner there. Oh my goodness is all I will say. Tremendous.

We made a road trip up to Virginia City, which is its’ own capture of a long-ago time in space, harkening back to the mid 1870’s during the biggest silver mining operation in US history. The Big Bonanza was the largest precious metal (silver) find in history! And where money goes, oddly enough, entrepreneurial individuals find creative ways to relieve you of your burden.

The area had a little something for everyone, but a great time was had by all! Skiing was fantastic, as was the fellowship. Fun. Fun. Fun.
I don’t remember a thing
Exactly.
