We camped at the Pemi River Campground in Thornton, NH, which is a private campground. While we generally try to avoid private campgrounds, this campground was great – a retro look and feel with lots of families with young kids – just really nice, and the people who own the campground have been fabulous and friendly. AND it is right on the Pemigewasset River.
Yesterday we had them shuttle us 5 miles upstream and we paddled back to the campground, an absolutely gorgeous paddle (Class 1). The water was shallow towards the beginning and we had to pull our boats in the water, but no big deal. The water (as it is in most places in northern New England) was crystal clear.
