You can’t say Freeport, ME without talking about LL Bean, so yes that was our first stop (after the campground). While a visit to LL Bean is like being a kid in a candy store, our campsite wasn’t too shabby. We stayed at the Winslow Park Campground, which is part of a farm that was deeded to the town of Freeport back in 1953 – sitting on the dock of the bay, right on the water. Gorgeous views! While camped in Freeport, I made a ferry excursion out to Peak’s Island where Tom Bergh at Maine Island Kayak was kind enough to let me demo a couple of REALLY nice NDK Romany sea kayaks. Nice!
