I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

These words from the iconic poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, capture much of the nature of our travels over the years.
We are soon to head out on our next Airstream journey, which will take us thousands of miles over the next few months. In preparation, I was at an Airstream dealership to have a bike rack installed. In the customer service area, I was seated in front of a TV scrolling through an endless feed of Airstream photos in gorgeous locations. I was thinking, that is so cool!
Then I got to thinking… wait, don’t we own an Airstream? And haven’t we been to some cool places and taken some beautiful pictures? Well, what do you know!
These photos have been curated out of hundreds (thousands) of photos from our travels. We are on our 5thAirstream. Obviously we have issues, which should come as no surprise to any of you who know us. We have owned two 34-foot Classics, a 27-foot International Ocean Breeze, a B190, and currently a 30-foot Classic.
We largely travel just the two of us, often on the road not taken, but we have also traveled with family and dear friends. Our Airstreams have been used for family vacations, as a college tailgating platform, in support of our kids’ high school band activities, a bake sale, a steeplechase event, Halloween backdrop, holiday bling, and countless travel experiences.

We have camped at state and national parks, private campgrounds, BLM lands, resorts, truck stops, in the most remote places one could find, and more often than we would like to think, Walmart and Cracker Barrel parking lots. We have no simple formula – just what works at the time.

But as Robert Frost pondered over two roads diverging in a wood, so too do we. Happy holidays, and here’s to you taking the road you choose!

You and your family have an amazing set of stories and beautiful photos documenting your many trips. I just happened onto your blog today. And I’ll “subscribe” to your posts – they are so interesting. My wife and I enjoy our 2018 Flying Cloud 23FB, and I have to say your stories are motivational – even if we plan to travel in the Pacific Northwest.
Have you reported on mechanical or operational issues with your Airstream? I am still learning form so many posts under “Airstream Addicts” on these issues.
I truly appreciate your thoughtful comments – thank you! We have had so much fun traveling with our Airstreams (5 in total – jeesh), over many hundreds of thousands of miles We have had SO much fun over the years, and one of the most notable and least expected results has been the community of fellow Airstreamers, many who have become very good friends. In fact I posted 3-parted posts back in 2021 about Airstreaming (the people, the places, and the product) if you have not seen. You are correct – we have not done the PNW justice, for a number of reasons, some of which would be fun to share over a beer. For mechanical and operational issues, you are far better served with others as I am the least mechanically adept person on this planet. The most technical post I did was about the Alde heating system, which I suspect you may not have on your model. We are heading out in less than a week for our next adventure – keep tuned! Thank you again – hope we meet up down the road!
Pics are beautiful…you both look well..
we have been off on a long trip to S Dakota this year, many rallies.

Stay well…
